The reveal

Had grand plans to do something like this on Thanksgiving day surrounded by family:

But then we had our ultrasound last Friday and it became hard not to peek at our secret envelope. I totally thought I could wait, based on the fact that I love surprises and waited with Maggie until birth, but it really got to me once I had the results at home. I should have given them to someone for safekeeping but instead I put them away in a closet and it drove.me.nuts!!! So, Michael and I sat down in Maggie's room the next afternoon after I'd taken a bath to warm up and relax. I was blown away upon seeing the written word and pictures...

BOY!

One of each. I hear boys are quite different to raise and I don't know what to expect until I see it, but I'm happy that I get to experience both. I'm mourning a little bit for Maggie and not having another girl as great as she is, but I can't complain. All of our love and focus has been on Maggie these past 3 years that it's hard sometimes to wrap your mind around a second little being coming into your family. It's just as exciting for parents the second time around but I know it can be overwhelming for the kids. I just pray that she adjusts to the changes and learns to love this little guy with all her heart. At least she won't have to share her clothes or girly toys!

  2. Ha ha. I keep getting that question. Might hold onto things for awhile (this is probably it but not sure) or I have to give things back to my sis-there is a new baby girl on their side of the family and she has friends having girls. I've been lucky to get lots of stuff from her.

  3. Congratulations! I am excited for you. I can relate to feeling a little sadness...I had spent 20 weeks thinking about the possibilities of my first having a little brother or a little sister. It was inevitable that only half of those possibilities would come true (unless we had had twins!) and it was a little sad to lose the idea of two little boys rampaging through the house. I think you will really enjoy having one of each. :)

  4. I think a boy will teach Maggie a lot. My little brother and I had many good times. I also learned a lot from my older brother: I learned how to put up with his shenaigans, and I figured out how to dish out some of my own. I think that's helped me in the "real" world.

  5. Yay! Boys are like a completely different species, but just as fun. And don't worry about Maggie. If its anything like K, no one will be able to beat up on him but her. :)

  6. I would not have been able to wait either. Heck, I get a package from UPS and can't wait to open it, even if it's just a piece of house plumbing or something. News like yours wrapped up in an envelope wouldn't make it one night at my house, congratulations!
